Investigation against Corral
Senator Javier Corral faces accusations of alleged diversion of 98.6 million pesos, within the framework of a contract granted during his government to restructure the state’s debt. According to the accusation, the contract did not have the necessary supporting documents.
Corral, who was a member of the PAN, left the party two years after his departure as governor and in 2023 he joined Claudia Sheinbaum’s presidential campaign. Currently, Morena defends the legislator, pointing out that the action against him responds to political revenge on the part of the current governor of Chihuahua, Maru Campos.
A week ago, a federal judge ordered the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), headed by Ernestina Godoy, to investigate the alleged diversion of 98.6 million pesos.
According to a statement from the senator’s lawyers, “the FGR determined to exercise the power of attraction and two district judges of the Judicial Branch of the Federation also considered that the jurisdiction was federal, so after numerous hours of hearings, arguments and evidence from the parties, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Chihuahua and the local Control Judge were ordered to withdraw from the case and forward the files.”
