Within the framework of the releases of political prisoners in Venezuela unknown detention centers have come to light. These are infrastructures that were not originally created to house the prison population.
The organization Justicia, Encuentro y Perdón reported the case of pilot Yilson Antonio Guillén Hernández, who has a delicate health condition and deserves immediate medical attention. However, what is most striking is that Guillén is incarcerated at the National Anti-Drug Command (CNA), Las Acacias.
The CNA was designed as an anti-drug operational center for the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB). Despite this, some people are detained at this headquarters.
Unknown detention centers
Given this, journalist Luis Carlos Díaz questioned the functioning of these spaces. “How come they also have political prisoners in the National Anti-Drug Command? That’s not a jail. Just as political prisoners appear about whom nothing was known, these days have revealed that there are also more unknown detention centers,” he noted.
According to a publication by Infobae, in the CNA of Las Acacias There are around 72 detainees. Among them are 35 active military personnel, five mayors, 20 businessmen, including one of American nationality and two Mexicans, and 12 civilians. In addition, they pointed out that this headquarters has functioned as a detention center since the beginning of 2025.
