The state press describes him as “a defender of the Cuban Revolution, of the line of Fidel, of Raúl, a faithful exponent of continuity.”
LIMA, Peru – The Cuban News Agency (ACN), reported this Saturday about the death of José Manuel Valido Rodríguez, a man linked to the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), who also watched over the narrative of the military forces on the Island from the media.
The death of Valido Rodríguez results from an accident he suffered on January 10, while riding a motorcycle.
The Circle of War Correspondents, of the Union of Journalists of Cuba, lamented “with deep pain and sadness” the loss, ACN reports.
The state press describes him as “a defender of the Cuban Revolution, of the line of Fidel, of Raúl, a faithful exponent of continuity.”
Since the end of 2004, Valido Rodríguez was involved in the design of audiovisuals that the Cuban regime was preparing about its intervention in the Angola military conflict. He then joined the production team of the Castro propaganda project and was appointed by the Political Directorate of the FAR: Military Coordinator of the series of the state Cuban Television Operación Carlota.
“From then until the accident on January 10 of this year, their opinions always had to be taken into account in productions on military issues,” says ACN, a medium with which it had also begun to collaborate just about three months ago, in October 2025.
José Manuel Valido Rodríguez became a lieutenant colonel within the FAR and, according to the official press, “promoter of a considerable number of unrealized projects” within the propaganda of the Communist Party of Cuba.
In images published after his death, he is seen active in official events and alongside the main figures of the dictatorship on the Island, including Fidel Castro, Raul Castro and the current ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel.
