Brazilian table tennis player Hugo Calderano concluded his participation in the WTT Star Contender in Doha, Qatar, this Sunday (18), winning the bronze medal. The athlete, number three in the world rankings, was defeated in the semifinals by Chinese Wen Ruibo, just 19 years old, this Sunday morning (Brasília time).
With the final score of 3 sets to 2 (9/11, 11/8, 9/11, 11/9 and 9/11), the Asian continues to the final of the tournament, and Calderano is guaranteed the podium.
The Doha 2026 Star Contender was Calderano’s second competition this year. Last week, he fell in the debut of the WTT Champions in Doha, which was also held at the Lusail Sports Arena, against German Dimitrij Ovtcharov.
