CDMX Government seizes more than 50,000 vapers in the Historic Center

While the Attorney General of Justice, Bertha Alcalde Luján, specified that the legal reform does not criminalize individual consumption, but rather prohibits the profit and marketing of these devices due to the proven damage they cause to health.

He reiterated the prosecutor’s office’s commitment to collaborate with federal and local authorities in actions that strengthen legality, security and public health.

The commissioner of Mental Health and Addictions, Francisco José Gutiérrez Rodríguez, pointed out that the capital government maintains a firm stance against this problem, sending a clear message of rejection of the consumption, distribution and marketing of substances that put the well-being of the population at risk.

This week, Expansion verified that in Alameda Central, a few steps from the Palace of Fine Arts, vape pens are sold on public streets, despite being prohibited at the federal level.

During a tour, it was found that at least three stalls installed in the Angela Peralta Corridor, next to the Palace of Fine Arts, still offered vapes for 100 pesos each, which were displayed on canvas on the floor.
