San Francisco de Macorís. – The director of the National Health Service (SNS), doctor Julio Landronled this Saturday a supervision day and coordination in the Cibao Northeast Health Regional, during which he announced the staggered opening of the second phase of Dr. Ángel María Gatón Regional Hospital.
The doctor offered the information, after carrying out a route in the health center in the areas of imaging, hospitalization, operating rooms, post-surgical room, delivery room, emergency and Adult, neonatal and pediatric intensive care unitswith the aim of check the general conditions and guarantee dignified, timely and quality attention to users.
During his visit, Dr. Landrón held an meeting with medical and administrative staffwhom he urged to perform their duties with dedication, responsibility, transparency and a humane treatment towards patients.
“We want to have this center operating at full capacitywith humanization, awareness of health services, quality and timely care,” he expressed.
In this context, the new head of the National Health Service reported that the hospital is in a programmed and staggered opening processannouncing that in the coming days the emergency areasimages, laboratory, internment and intensive care corresponding to the second phase of opening the center.
Likewise, he indicated that the center will begin these operations under a strict accompaniment of the entitywith the aim of ensure transparencyefficient use of resources and quality in the provision of health services.
“This hospital is huge and has greater responsibility, because it receives referrals from the entire Northeast region. That’s why must operate efficientlytransparency and with a real commitment to patients,” stated Landrón.
He also explained that actions are coordinated with the Ministry of Housing and Buildings (Mived) for expedite completion of pending areasresolve technical situations and ensure that the facilities are ready for start-up.
Strengthening services
The official highlighted that, in parallel, work will be done on the strengthening primary care and the First Level Centers, so that the patients who arrive at the regional hospital are truly those who require third level care.
Likewise, he pointed out that one of the priority axes of the Government for the year 2026 is the National Trauma Networkto which this hospital will be integrated, with an important orthopedics and traumatology component. He also stressed the need for enable mental health crisis units and reinforce maternal and child programs, as part of the commitment to reducing maternal and child mortality.

During the day, Dr. Landrón also authorized the regional management and the hospital administration to rent immediately buses for facilitate the transfer of personnelwhile the administrative process is carried out for the definitive acquisition of the necessary units, in accordance with the collaborators’ schedules.
