The Cuban Institute of Music (ICM) reported This Saturday the death of the young Cuban musician José Luis Reyes Luis, 26 years old, occurred in the early morning of January 17, 2026 in the province of Villa Clara, as a result of a traffic accident.
According to the note published by the institution on its social networks, Reyes Luis worked as a trombonist for the urban music group led by Velito el Bufón. The musician was traveling with other members of the group to his native province, Camagüey, to perform an artistic presentation.
The statement specifies that, as a result of the accident, several of the artists were injured and are receiving medical attention in health institutions in Villa Clara.
On behalf of the Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Institute of Music and the National Center of Popular Music, the cultural authorities conveyed their condolences to the family and friends of the young musician.
