The director of ‘La Hora de Cuba’ remains unknown since January 14, without the authorities having offered information about his situation.
MADRID, Spain.- The freelance journalist Henry Constantin, director of the medium Cuba Time and regional vice president for Cuba of the Press Freedom Commission of the Inter-American Press Association (IAPA), has remained missing for almost 48 hours.
According to a publication made this Thursday by his own means on Facebook, The journalist’s last communication with his team was on January 14, at 6:50 in the afternoon. Since then his whereabouts have been unknown.
The note specifies that, after verifying the records of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR), the communicator does not appear as a detainee. Arrangements were also made at the Marianao police station, where it was reported that he was not in custody. “As the media was able to confirm, Henry is not in the PNR system as a detainee. They also approached the Marianao station to ask about him and the response was negative,” the publication reads.
Constantin was at his home in Havana and had warned his colleagues about connection problems during the afternoon before his disappearance. The next morning, they found his apartment open. “The gate and door of his apartment were found open, with no one inside and no signs of a struggle.” His mobile phone remains turned off or out of coverage, and the presence of State Security agents was reported in the area.
