María Corina Machado gives her Nobel medal to Donald Trump, who said: “a wonderful gesture”

The Venezuelan opponent María Corina Machado finally presented the medal of her Nobel Peace Prize to the president of the United States, Donald Trump, accompanied by a message of “gratitude” from the Venezuelan people.

Machado placed the medal in a frame with gold details and wrote at the top: “In gratitude for his extraordinary leadership to promote peace,” which happens after Trump ordered the bombing of Venezuela.

The opponent added that it is a gift from the Venezuelan people for Trump’s actions aimed at “their freedom,” she said. EFE.

The policy, which already he had dedicated the Nobel to Trump when he received itstated last week that “he certainly wants to give it to him and share it with him,” although the Norwegian Nobel Institute recalled that a Nobel Prize cannot be transferred to third parties.

Donald Trump praised Machado for “giving” him the medal. In his official Truth Social account, the president noted that it had been “a great honor” to meet Machado and that she gave him the badge due to the “work” done during his administration.

Trump also highlighted that Machado is “a wonderful woman who has been through a lot” and described the Nobel award as a “wonderful gesture of mutual respect.”

“A medal can change owners, but the title of Nobel Peace Prize cannot”

The Nobel Peace Center recalled that “there is a truth that persists” and quoted the Norwegian Nobel Committee:

“Once a Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be revoked, shared or transferred to others. The decision is final and lasts forever.”

“A medal can change owners, but the title of Nobel Peace Prize cannot,” they concluded.

That same day, while Trump received Machado at the White House, his spokesperson Karoline Leavitt praised the cooperation of the president in charge of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, noting that “so far she has complied with all of Washington’s demands.”

This contrast marked a day of crossed gestures, with the Venezuelan opposition seeking support and the Republican Administration approaching the interim authorities that emerged after the capture of Nicolás Maduro.

Machado, Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2025, shared a private lunch with Trump that lasted more than two hours in one of the White House dining rooms and took place without access to the press.

At the end, The opposition leader described the meeting as “very good” and “great”and stated to his followers: “We are counting on President Trump for the freedom of Venezuela.”

Paradoxically, Trump had previously declared that Machado does not have the support of Venezuelans and has made a strange pact with the Chavista government of Delcy Rodríguez, after the capture of Nicolás Maduro on January 3.
