The measures adopted by the cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, include the end of the state of emergency on March 31 and the cessation of structures created under it, such as the Scientific Technical Committee and the figure of the extraordinary commissioner to manage the confrontation with the pandemic.
They also provide for the elimination of quarantine for contact with positive cases and the obligation to vaccinate, with job suspension for non-compliers, for almost all categories of workers, except health personnel in hospital institutions and nursing homes and other vulnerable people. .
They also modify the requirement to present the vaccination certificate, basic and reinforced, to access certain places and services, until its abolition from next May 1.
The decree maintains the use of protective masks in closed places, and open spaces where there is a crowd of people, until April 30.
In a joint press conference with the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, Draghi stated that, as he anticipated at the end of 2021, the government’s objective was a return to normality and recognized the work of the previous executive in managing the pandemic.
In this sense, he thanked the effort and contribution of people, institutions and citizens in general, so that the country could reach this point after two years of confrontation with Covid-19 and highlighted the key role of vaccination in this process.
For his part, Speranza specified that with the new decree the color system stops working for the gradual application of restrictions in correspondence with the epidemiological situation of each territory and also underlined the positive impact of immunization.
