The candidate for the presidency of Peru for the Libertad Popular party, Rafael Belaundegave a press conference where he reported on the attack he suffered at the beginning of December and presented his security plan along with its members.
The call began with the words of the applicant Belaunde where he indicated that the theories that the attack was “armed” were totally false. Belaunde narrated the tests that were done to reach the expert conclusions, for example, analysis of the bullet casings found or the blood that was on his shirt and body when he reported the incident.
In addition, he mentioned that the investigation determined two hypotheses. The first is that it was an attack related to the issue of businesses under construction and the second is that it is a political attack, which he believes is quite unlikely.
“The investigation has concluded without a doubt that it was an attack, an attack perpetrated by two people who intercepted my passage on a linear motorcycle, that the person sitting in the back got out armed, that he shot at my vehicle at least four times,” said the candidate.
He also indicated that there were four hits that his vehicle received and that he repelled them with his firearm, firing at least seven shots from his pistol. “The main hypotheses are violence linked to the construction sector, due to other antecedents in the area, invasions that we have suffered and that we have repelled, processes that we have against people who have wanted to usurp land. The other hypothesis, which I do not adhere to because I do not want to give a political character to something that until it is 100% determined does not seem prudent to me, but the other hypothesis is also that the fight that I have sustained against illegal mining is the other line of work (for which they attacked it), but we will have to allow police will continue investigating,” Belaunde said.
SECURITY PLAN
The Libertad Popular candidate also advanced the security plan that he will implement if he wins the elections, for which he presented a group of military and police officers who will accompany him to develop the aforementioned strategy.
“We have to have, as was the success of Gein, a special intelligence group that combats extortion above all, because extortion affects the micro-entrepreneur, the small businessman, it attacks the most intimate fiber of the Peruvian, who is a determined entrepreneurial being who wants to earn his destiny and his prosperity by hand,” he mentioned at the conference.
And he added that they will develop and deploy a system that allows the police, prosecutors, judges, banks and the media to do their jobs well.
