Petrobras exceeds projections and has record production in 2025

Petrobras’ oil production reached 2.40 million barrels per day (bpd) in 2025, an expansion of 11% compared to the previous year’s production. The information was released this Friday (16) by the company.Petrobras exceeds projections and has record production in 2025

The result exceeded the upper limit of the target (+4%) established in the 2025-2029 Business Plan by 0.5 percentage points (pp).

When considering the total production of oil and natural gas, the result exceeded the upper limit of the target by 2.8 pp (+4%), reaching 2.99 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), with an increase of 11% in relation to 2024 production.

Commercial production of oil and natural gas registered 2.62 million boed, exceeding the upper limit of the projected target by 0.9 pp (+4%).

Pre-salt

The oil production, commercial production and total production marks also surpassed historical annual records recorded over more than 70 years of the company, Petrobras revealed.

The company also set new annual records in the pre-salt for total own production, of 2.45 million boed, and operated production, of 3.70 million boed. The pre-salt production volume represents 82% of Petrobras’ total production.

In addition to the wells that the state-owned company uses in its production, there are also those in which it operates as operator and which were purchased by consortiums of companies or companies.

Last year, two new platforms in the Santos Basin pre-salt came into operation: the FPSO (floating platform ship) Almirante Tamandaré, located in the Búzios field, and the FPSO Alexandre de Gusmão, in the Mero field.

Furthermore, the FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias, in Mero, reached the top of production, and the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré reached a production record, with an average of around 240 thousand bpd in the months of November and December, becoming the platform with the highest production in Brazil.

Added to this was the leverage of the FPSOs Maria Quitéria, in the Jubarte field, Anita Garibaldi and Anna Nery, in the Marlim and Voador fields.

“The significant increase in operational efficiency of all operational units was fundamental for exceeding production targets”, said Petrobras, in a statement released to the press.

Integrated effort

The company also announced that it reached 1 million barrels of oil per day of operated production, in the Búzios field, with just six platforms, which demonstrates the high productivity of the wells in this field.

The seventh platform, P-78, which came into operation on December 31, should contribute to the continuation of the company’s production growth trajectory.

According to the company, the results obtained “are the result of the integrated effort of the Petrobras workforce to increase production and maintain the commitment to total attention to people, respect for the environment, preservation of operational safety and the reliability of assets”.
