A group of haitian nationals was captured in video while escaped from a truck of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) in full public thoroughfareduring his transfer to a detention center in Puerto Plata.
In the images, which quickly spread in social networksseveral of the detainees are seen hurriedly exiting the official vehicle and running in different directions, to the surprise of the passers-by and drivers who were at the scene.
Until now, the DGM has not offered details about how the leak occurredhow many people managed to escape or whether the agents in charge of the operation were sanctioned or investigated for the incident.
The fact has generated public concern and reopens the debate on the security protocols in the transfers of detained foreigners, as well as on the custody conditions and control during this type of operations.
