Podemos deputy Ione Belarra made a harsh criticism in her intervention in the Spanish Congress against foreign policy towards Venezuela and the role of international organizations; He assured that the conflict is not about democracy, but about “oil, pasta and a trade war with China,” and compared the situation to Western interest in Iran.
During the debate on Spain’s position regarding the kidnapping of the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, Belarra highlighted “three harsh truths” about Venezuela, which she classified into: Economic interests, judicial denial and the legitimacy of the Venezuelan extreme right.
He pointed out that the US justice system freely recognized the non-existence of the Cartel of the Suns, which he described as a “crude hoax” designed to justify interventions in the region.
