Yenifer Paredessister-in-law of former President Pedro Castillo, asked the Judiciary to order the closure of the tax investigation he is facing for the Anguia casein which the Public Ministry links her to an alleged criminal organization dedicated to directing public works in Cajamarca. The request seeks to declare the preparatory investigation stage concluded, according to RPP.
Paredes’ defense presented an appeal for time control arguing that the legal time for the investigation has already expired and that, therefore, it is up to the Prosecutor’s Office to define whether to file an accusation or file the case.
The request was admitted by the court and will be evaluated in a virtual hearing set for January 28, at 11 in the morning, in which the Prosecutor’s Office, the lawyers of those investigated and the others involved in this process will participate.
The request not only reaches Yenifer Paredesbut also to other defendants in the same file, including the former mayor of Anguía, José Medina, and businessman Kenny Torres, who also ask that the investigation be closed due to excess of time.

What is the Anguía case about?
According to the thesis of the Public Ministry, the Anguia case involves an alleged criminal organization that would have operated from the family and political environment of the then president Pedro Castillo to direct public works tenders in rural districts of Cajamarca.
For the Prosecutor’s Office, Yenifer Paredes It would have played a key role as a link between local authorities and supplier companies, in order to facilitate the award of projects financed by the Ministry of Housing, despite the fact that they were companies without experience or technical capacity.
The process is part of the investigations that are being carried out against the former president’s immediate entourage and that seek to determine whether there was an articulated structure to capture State resources through manipulated public tenders, under the coverage of sanitation programs and basic infrastructure works.
