Tandas are one of the most used informal savings schemes by the Mexicans. ¿They generate taxes or fines? This is what the Tax Administration Service (SAT) says about it.
In Mexico, 88% of the population between 18 and 70 years old saves does it by informal methods (totally or partially), that is, you keep the money at home, you do it in batches or through a savings account, according to the National Financial Inclusion Survey (ENIF).
On the subject, the supervisory arm of the Ministry of Finance reported that does not carry out surveillance operations on these types of resources.
“The popular savings mechanisms, known as tandas, are not and will not be an audit objective,” he said.
Currently There is no program or subprogram that seeks to audit or follow up on said savings practice, he added in an informative note.
