Santo Domingo.- The head of the National Health Service (SNS), Julio Landrón and Edward Guzmán, director of the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa), held a planning meeting this Thursday with the aim of coordinating actions that will improve the provision of services and the efficiency of the public health system.
During the meeting, issues related to the financial sustainability of the health system were addressed, as well as the importance of consolidating the strategic alliance between the SNS and SeNaSa, in its role as the main guarantor of financing health services in the Public Network.
Dr. Landrón highlighted the need for joint work between both institutions to guarantee timely care, greater coverage and quality in the services received by the population.
“Without SeNaSa there is no possibility of improving the health of the Dominican people,” he pointed out, while emphasizing that work will be done to strengthen the inspection, monitoring and exchange of information mechanisms between both entities, in order to guarantee transparent billing, avoid improper payments and improve the quality and satisfaction of the services offered to users.
For his part, the director of SeNaSa, Edward Guzmán, assured that the creation of an inter-institutional technical table will be promoted in which the SNS, SeNaSa, the Ministry of Public Health and the Essential Medicines and Central Logistics Support Program (Promese/CAL) participate, with the aim of guaranteeing improvements in coverage and in the provision of services in the country’s hospitals. Likewise, he emphasized the importance of making the audit process in hospitals more efficient.
The directors of the SNS were also present at the meeting: Virginia Sánchez, financial; Alexander Ramírez, Infrastructure and Equipment; Esthefany Arias, legal; Jasmine Pérez, Human Resources; Inés Abreu, Control and Supervision; Amelia de León, representative of the First Level Care Directorate; Dennis Ruiz, Billing Coordinator of the First Level of Care and Dr. Camilo García.
