Jorge Rodríguez: the Constitution protects us at all times

“We will always have a homeland, we will always defend our independence,” said Rodríguez in the prelude to the annual message to the nation.

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, pointed out this Thursday during the presentation of the annual message to the nation by the acting president Delcy Rodríguez that “at all times and in all events, in glory and in obstacle, we go together with the people of Venezuela in building the future of peace and prosperity that they deserve, and we are guided by the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”

Jorge Rodríguez indicated that This message is carried out as established in article 237 of the Constitutionwhich states: “Within the first ten (10) days following the installation of the National Assembly in ordinary sessions, the President of the Republic will personally present each year to the Assembly a message in which he will report on the political, economic, social and administrative aspects of his management during the immediately preceding year” and recalled that the current National Assembly was elected on May 25, 2025 and was duly sworn in, as established by the Constitution of the Republic. Bolivarian of Venezuela, last Monday, January 5 of this year 2026 by the competent authorities.

“We will always have a homeland, we will always defend our independence, sovereignty and our identity and the sacred territory. We will always go together with the people to offer our children and grandchildren a more splendid future that our liberators dreamed of,” he expressed before giving the floor to the acting president Delcy Rodríguez.

This balance takes on a historic character due to the situation that the country is going through after the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and the first lady Cilia Flores on January 3.

The legislative session has the support of a massive concentration of social sectors, workers and educators in the center of Caracas. The protesters are mobilized in areas adjacent to the Federal Palace to express their support for the management of the President in charge and demand respect for international law and the immediate return of the presidential couple, ratifying their commitment to national sovereignty.
