Given the rumors of Rita López’s departure from the position of general manager in charge of Petroperuthe Minister of Economy and Finance, Denise Mirallesclarified the situation of the official within the state company.
“She presented her letter of resignation, and what she has stated is that she needs to have managers she trusts, because there are certain rigors in the company that have made it difficult to change these people. They themselves have generated their regulations to always remain making the bad decisions that have led us to this point (of crisis),” he explained in statements to Peru21.
In that sense, he reported that they have coordinated with Fonafe to update regulations so that flexibility can be given to the election of managers and people who are not currently part of the oil company can be appointed.
“(The current manager) knows the company very well, it is where she has grown professionally, she knows everyone well. What she mentioned is that she could not change her management team and there were people who gave her problems,” he explained.
For this reason, the head of the MEF indicated that Rita López has already been given peace of mind that in the coming days there would be changes to the guidelines so that modifications can be made to management without problems.
“It is not yet that she has withdrawn her letter of resignation, but with this we would be keeping the manager and the president of the board, because they both have the trust of the Board of Directors,” said the Minister of Economy.
Likewise, he highlighted and defended the appointment of the general manager in charge because she has had a career path at Petroperú. Likewise, she assured that when Pedro Castillo took office, she was removed from the management positions she held.
“For us it was quite complex to choose a manager. Anyone who works at Petroperú is always going to have a criticism. (…) Rita has no processes, no type of complaints, she is the cleanest person we have found,” he added.
