Capriles: Maduro spends on propaganda while retirees and pensioners face hunger

The parliamentarian and former governor specified that the teachers’ salary does not cover “not even a fraction of the basic basket”, nor is it enough for transportation and health expenses.

On Teacher’s Day, deputy Henrique Capriles calls for the dignification of teachers’ salaries as an indispensable condition for the development of the country.

“The current salary table is a forceful example of the crisis: a teacher who works 40 hours a week earns between 264 and 450 bolivars per month, and even in the highest scale – teacher VI – the salary does not exceed 600 bolivars per month,” wrote Capriles, who pointed out that this date is conducive to showing once again the reality that teachers in Venezuelan public education live.

Capriles called for improving the socioeconomic conditions of teachers, carrying out a real update of salary tables and establishing policies based on respect for teachers and their role as educators of citizens.
