The detainees were identified as José Azuaje, Roderick Hernández, May Chávez and Alcides Hidalgo
Within the framework of the fight against organized crime and the strengthening of citizen security, the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, reported on the arrest of four citizens involved in the illicit trafficking of war material in the state of Miranda.
The detainees were identified as José Azuaje, Roderick Hernández, May Chávez and Alcides Hidalgo. According to the official report, the group was trying to transport a shipment of 10,500 7.62 x 39 mm caliber cartridges, high-impact ammunition usually used in war weapons, which were hidden in boxes with the aim of being sold illegally.
The Public Ministry of Miranda state will charge the subjects with the crimes of ammunition trafficking and criminal association.
This operation is part of the “iron fist” policy maintained by the Venezuelan State to neutralize the logistical capabilities of criminal gangs.
The authorities have detected that ammunition trafficking is the main engine that fuels violence in peripheral areas, so the seizure of this arsenal represents a significant blow to the structures that seek to destabilize internal peace.
With this procedure, security agencies ratify their commitment to cutting off the supply lines of criminal groups, and guarantee justice and protection of the Venezuelan people against the threats of organized mafias.
