SANTIAGO.-The section of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) of the municipality of Monción, in the province of Santiago Rodríguez, denounced this morning the stoppage of infrastructure work at the Las Mesetas public school, in that northwestern town.
Miguelina Estévez, president of the ADP branch in Monción, declared that the suspension of work at the aforementioned plant is due to the lack of payments to the construction contractor.
“We urgently request the Ministry of Education to intervene in the case in order to avoid the setbacks and difficulties that the students and the teaching and administrative staff of the campus are facing due to the suspension of these works,” said Estévez.

The teacher union leader indicated that the stoppage of this work has caused the intervention to stagnate and aggravated the physical conditions of the school.
“In that school the initial, primary and secondary levels operate, so the stoppage of the work directly affects a large student population, as well as the teaching and administrative staff, who are forced to teach in spaces that do not meet the conditions for good teaching quality,” Estévez stressed.
Likewise, the president of the ADP in Monción criticized and censured the passivity that district and regional officials of the Ministry of Education have shown in the face of the problem.
He reiterated his urgent call to the Minister of Education to resolve the problem affecting the Mesetas school.
