Farmers from the La Agronomic market held a conference today at 11 a.m. to respond to the leaders of the new agricultural cooperative created on the former Association of Producers of the Four Provinces of the Tacna Region and reaffirm that they do work in the field.
They said that upon being excluded they have had to form a new association called the Association of Agrarian Producers of the Region, chaired by Jerónimo Nina Toala.
Complaint for alleged fraud
Nina reported that they have denounced the leader Hermeregildo García Vargas and others for the crime against the administration of justice – procedural fraud for transforming the producers’ association into a cooperative, incurring alleged irregularities.
He indicated that only those who had a rural property title were re-registered despite the fact that the majority of members only have proof of ownership, that many of the 30 people who made up the new cooperative are family members and that they met in a place where they do not usually meet (they did so at 778-B Leguía Avenue, home of the lawyer Guzmán Fernández) and that the 983 members were not notified.

The farmers occupy a piece of land called La Agronómica, temporarily given by the National Institute of Agrarian Research (INIA) in 2020 to open a temporary market during the COVID-19 pandemic and guarantee food provision and decongestion.
Nina Toala stated that the only purpose of the leaders who created the cooperative is to take over the management of the market, which is now in the hands of 30 people, despite the fact that the land was not transferred to a specific organization or legal entity, but to the farmers gathered in 2020.
