Monción, Santiago Rodríguez.– The Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP), Monción section, denounced the stoppage of infrastructure work at the Las Mesetas school and demanded an immediate response from the Ministry of Education, given the progressive deterioration of the campus and the conditions in which teaching is carried out.
The president of the section, Miguelina Estévez, explained that the work remains stopped due to lack of payment to the contractor engineer in charge of the work, which has caused the intervention to stagnate and the physical conditions of the educational center to worsen.
He indicated that the school operates at the Initial, Primary and Secondary levels, so the stoppage directly impacts a large student population, as well as the teaching and administrative staff, who are forced to teach classes in spaces that do not meet the minimum conditions of safety, comfort and pedagogical adequacy.
The ADP Monción pointed out that, despite the repeated efforts, complaints and calls made to the corresponding authorities, so far no concrete response has been obtained that would allow the resumption of work and guarantee a decent school environment.
The teachers’ union condemned the passivity of the district and regional authorities, and warned that the lack of timely action violates the fundamental right of children and adolescents to quality public education.
The Dominican Association of Teachers, Monción section, demanded the direct intervention of the Ministry of Education so that the work is resumed and completed in the shortest time possible.
Likewise, he reiterated his willingness to dialogue and warned that he will continue to use all legitimate mechanisms at his disposal to defend the rights of teachers and students.
