The Venezuelan working class marches this Wednesday, January 14, to demand the immediate release of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores and to reject the US military incursion on January 3, an act that the unions describe as a flagrant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
The rally begins at 11:00 am at the Cantv headquarters, located on Libertador Avenue. From that point, the workers march towards the steps of El Calvario to express their support for the Bolivarian Revolution and in defense of national sovereignty.
The head of Government of Caracas, Nahum Fernández, pointed out that This call is part of a permanent mobilization strategy instructed by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (Psuv). “The world will hear the testimony of our working class in their defense of President Obrero,” the official stated on Instagram, highlighting that the workforce will remain in the streets until the presidential couple is released.
The mobilizations that have been taking place in Caracas coincide with the solidarity demonstrations of social movements abroad, which have denounced the assault on Venezuelan sovereignty. The organizers emphasized that the massive presence in the streets of the capital is the categorical and firm response of the Venezuelan people to reject the actions of aggression and violence promoted by the government of Donald Trump.
Oil tankers will concentrate in La Campiña
Oil industry workers gather at the La Campiña headquarters to join the national mobilization day called by the Psuv.
The coordinator of the Bolivarian Socialist Workers’ Central, Carlos López, stated that some 100,000 workers in Caracas will participate in this activity, who will express their support for the acting president Delcy Rodríguez in the face of the military aggression of the Trump administration.
López reported that the workforce remains organized in the country to ensure the functioning of the strategic engines. “The objective of the union is to prevent the paralysis of State companies and guarantee economic stability while the contingency lasts,” he said.
The spokesperson described the United States’ actions as “imperialist barbarism” driven by the interest of appropriating Venezuelan wealth.
According to López, the oil sector identifies this attack as an attempt at economic survival by Washington in the face of the emergence of new global powers.
Next, he indicated that the working class reaffirms its support in defense of energy sovereignty as an absolute priority of the labor movement.
