Live: President Abinader receives the first electronic passport of the DR

Santo Domingo.- This Monday the implementation process of the new electronic passport Dominican, an initiative that marks a significant advance in the modernization of the country, by offering a more secure and efficient document that improves the service to citizens and strengthens the connection of the Dominican Republic with the world.

The announcement was made by President Luis Abinader through his official WhatsApp channel, where he highlighted the progress and benefits of this new travel document.

The president leads the official proof of issuance of the electronic passport, the first version of which will be delivered to the head of state himself.

President Luis Abinader received the first Dominican electronic passport.

The activity takes place in the new offices of the General Directorate of Passports, located on Dr. Defilló Avenue, corner of John F. Kennedy.

The biometric passport incorporates an electronic chip that stores the holder’s biometric data, such as the face, fingerprints and digital signature, in addition to having more than 70 security measures, which facilitates international travel and meets the highest international standards.
