Colombia will receive US $ 2.3 billion of French foreign investment

Following his participation in the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 26, President Iván Duque met in Paris with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.

“During this visit, more than 2,300 million dollars of investment from French companies in Colombia will be announced, including those that are in technology matters”said the Colombian president.

Duque highlighted the support of his French counterpart and the Government he represents in “The construction of the policy of Peace with Legality. Humanitarian demining projects have been decisive in Colombia to the point that 45% of all demining that has historically been done in Colombia has been advanced in these three years ”.

President Iván Duque also highlighted that France has contributed to the largest investment ever made in the 170 municipalities hardest hit by violence and poverty.

“Here we come to thank and continue building with France, a country that has distinguished itself as close to Colombia”, Duque said.

In environmental matters, Duque highlighted France’s effort at COP26, which is taking place in Glasgow, and the support for the announcement of declaring, with four more countries, the world’s largest marine protected area in the tropical Pacific.

In addition to these issues, Duque expressed his gratitude to President Macron for his comments regarding Colombia’s immigration policy and the restoration of democracy in Venezuela.
