Six international organizations will monitor the 2026 Elections, the Foreign Ministry reported

A total of six international organizations will observe and safeguard the transparency of the Elections 2026reported the caMinister Hugo de Zela. To guarantee the legitimacy of the electoral process, joint work will be carried out with the institutions of the electoral system and with the authorities of the host countries where Peruvian citizens authorized to vote reside.

As explained by ministry of foreign affairsthe organizations will act both nationally and internationally with the objective of ensuring the compliance with electoral regulations and reinforce the legitimacy of the results.

In the 2021 General Elections, international organizations were responsible for supervising the campaign, election day, vote counting, transmission of results and resolution of challenges. In addition, they evaluated compliance with democratic norms, verifying respect for the principles of legality and transparency, the rights of voters and the neutrality of the electoral authorities. They also monitored possible irregularities, recording complaints about misinformation, pressure on voters, logistical problems and disputes of minutes, and analyzed whether these situations had a real impact on the results.

In addition, he announced that 4,000 voting tables will be enabled for the more than 1,210,813 Peruvians authorized to vote abroad. For this, the consular offices are in the final phase of contracting voting locations. In America 757,697 Peruvians can vote; 403,388 nationals in Europe; 41,413 on the Asian continent; 7,918 nationals in Oceania; and 397 citizens in Africa.

The consular offices that concentrate the largest number of citizens authorized to exercise their right to vote are those of Buenos Aires (115,097), Santiago (113,887), Madrid (105,493), Barcelona (79,606), Milan (64,623), Paterson (63,799), Miami (55,530), New York (47,896) and Los Angeles (40,180).

To deal with these figures, the consular offices carry out the task of contracting the voting locations, an activity that is already in its final stage.

The high authority highlighted that the Foreign Ministry is redoubling its efforts to guarantee that election day abroad takes place under the highest standards of transparency, efficiency and accessibility.

He specified that these measures are carried out in close coordination with the electoral authorities of Peru, in order to respect the planned calendars and ensure that the 2026 elections develop normally at the international level.
