They ask that the Oversight Commission summon President Jerí for a meeting with a Chinese businessman

Congressman Elvis Vergara, president of the Oversight Commissionhas formally requested information from the Executive, in addition to a summons to the president José Jerí Oré to be held accountable for an unregistered meeting with Chinese businessman Zhihua Yang at a chifa in San Borja.

The case began after a report by Punto Final where it reported a secret meeting in a private location in the aforementioned district. The head of state has denied any bad intentions regarding this meeting; However, according to the complaint, the president entered the premises wearing a lead-colored hood to avoid being recognized.

This meeting does not appear in the official records of the presidential agenda. The explanation provided by Jerí’s entourage indicates that it was coordination for the “Peru-China Friendship Day.” The businessman involved, Zhihua Yang, is accused of having contractual ties with Nicanor Boluarte, brother of former president Dina Boluarte.

For his part, Congressman Jaime Quito pointed out that this regime represents a “continuation of Dina Boluarte’s management”, demanding immediate transparency. For his part, through a letter sent to the parliamentarian, Vergara stressed that Jerí’s actions violate official protocols and lack the transparency required for the position he holds.

Legislator Fernando Rospigliosi described as “absurd” any attempt at destabilization or vacancy motion at this time.

“He will have to give the explanations of the case. Let’s not advance his opinion on the subject, the president will have to give the explanations that he deems appropriate,” said the parliamentarian.

Legislator Wilson Soto also spoke about the case and assured that “it seems bad to me, it seems bad that the President of the Republic goes out in those conditions (hooded), but it would be important for him to come out to clarify (the situation).”

Parliamentarian Ruth Luque asserted that “it is unacceptable, therefore, that a person is meeting with a hood. In other words, what is he hiding? All public events must be absolutely transparent.”
