The sectoral vice president of Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, reported that during the year 2025, security organizations met the objective of dismantling the logistical routes of drug trafficking in Venezuela.
The official highlighted that through the popular-military-police fusion it was possible to “pulverize” the corridors used by drug trafficking in the state of Zulia, specifically those that connected the Colombian Catatumbo with Lake Maracaibo and the Caribbean. The destruction of this road allowed the capture of numerous citizens involved in the transportation network.
Cabello explained that among those detained are former officials of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb), police agents, judges and mayors, who facilitated the transit of narcotics from Colombian territory.
Air and maritime neutralization
Minister Cabello specified that Venezuela has neutralized more than 400 aircraft linked to illicit trafficking since operations with the DEA ceased. He highlighted that just two weeks ago eight small planes were disabled in a single day.
He explained that according to the seized navigation equipment, the routes usually begin in Suriname towards Colombia, from where they try to cross Venezuelan territory to release the cargo on the high seas or in the Orinoco Delta.
Operations in the Orinoco
Likewise, he explained that because the sea route is the most profitable for the transfer of large volumes of drugs, the Venezuelan Government concentrated its efforts on destroying the logistics base on Lake Maracaibo.
This action, Cabello said, marked the beginning of an intelligence operation extended to the entire country’s river network, with special emphasis on the Orinoco River, to guarantee the security and sovereignty of the national territory.
