Martín Vizcarra was emergency evacuated this Monday from the prison Barbadillo towards a EsSalud hospital located in Ate Vitarte. According to his press team, so far neither the reasons for the transfer nor details about his state of health have been reported.
Subsequently, the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE) reported that Vizcarra Cornejo attended this Monday, under strict security measures, the Lima Este Vitarte hospital of the Ministry of Health (MINSA) for a previously scheduled medical appointment.
“Vizcarra Cornejo is already in the Barbadillo prison under normal conditions,” they detailed on their social networks.

This is not the first similar episode in recent weeks. In December of last year, the former president was also transferred from Barbadillo to the same hospital after presenting a decompensation associated with a heart condition he suffers from. On that occasion, he received medical attention and later returned to the penitentiary center under the custody of the INPE.
Currently, the former head of state is being held serving a sentence of 14 years in prison, after the Judiciary will declare him guilty of corruption crimes in the cases Lomas de Ilo and Moquegua Hospitalcommitted during his administration as regional governor of Moquegua.
The sentence not only includes the custodial sentence, but also nine years of disqualification from holding any public office, as well as the payment of a 730-day fine, in accordance with the judicial resolution.
According to the thesis of the Public Ministry, Vizcarra He would have managed and received approximately 2.3 million soles in bribes from the construction companies Obrainsa and ICCGSA. These illicit payments would have been the condition for favoring said companies in the awarding of strategic public works during their time as regional authority.
