Venezuela and Europe will advance towards a new stage of strategic relations

This Monday, the acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, held a strategic meeting with heads of mission from the member countries of the European Union, the United Kingdom and the Swiss Confederation. The information was provided by the Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil.

“We have reviewed the state of relations between Venezuela and the governments of the European Union, the United Kingdom and the Swiss Confederation,” Gil said at the end of the activity, describing the meeting as a “frank, cordial and enjoyable” meeting.

The Venezuelan diplomat highlighted that, among the points discussed, he highlights the need to advance in a stage of productive relations and to open increasingly deeper and more intense channels of dialogue.

Likewise, he reported that the links in strategic sectors were reviewed: “We reviewed commercial and economic relations in areas such as energy, education, science, technology and the pharmaceutical industry, in which European companies have been based in Venezuela for a long time,” he stated.

In this sense, he indicated that the president in charge sent a clear message: cooperation must be developed under the framework of respect and equality of States and added that “we are willing to advance a new and intense work agenda for the well-being of the people of Europe and Venezuela.”

Recently, the acting president Delcy Rodríguez has also spoken by telephone with the leaders of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva; from Colombia, Gustavo Petro; and the President of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain, Pedro Sánchez. The central purpose of these contacts was to report on the serious criminal, illegal and illegitimate aggression perpetrated against the Nation.

Balance of the January 3 attack

The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, and the Minister of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, also participated in the meeting. During the meeting, the authorities presented an assessment of the events that occurred on January 3.

Gil denounced that on January 3, international law and national sovereignty were violated. “Our people were attacked and our constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, along with the first lady, were kidnapped,” he recalled.

Finally, the chancellor pointed out that during the day the commitment to international legality was ratified. “We have affirmed in this meeting the attachment of the countries of Europe, the European Union, Switzerland and the United Kingdom to the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, which must prevail,” he concluded.
