In the second edition of Desayuno Electoral, a program of Peru21Valerie Vásquez de Velasco and Mayra Calderón had a conversation with Carlos Espápresidential candidate of the Sí Creo party, who explained the reasons that led him to take the leap into politics and run for the Presidency of the Republic.
During the dialogue, the candidate addressed his personal and professional career, as well as the main milestones that marked his decision to participate in the electoral contest.
Espá presented his central proposals and shared his vision of the country, emphasizing the changes he considers necessary for the development of Peru. It stands out that it is well received by people when it arrives in a simple way.
“I have always viewed politics with a lot of distrust. It generates a lot of distrust in me and in the last year and a half that I have been involved in politics it generates more distrust in me because now I am experiencing it firsthand,” Espá declared.
He does not identify with the labels of right or left, since he considers both to be “catch-alls for corruption.”
“The right is a mixed bag for corruption, the left is also another mixed bag for corruption. Now I see, for example, in the Congress of the Republic how the right and the left are ganged up there. In public they insult each other, they say the green candle, they throw qualifying adjectives and underneath they make the distribution, the year-end bonuses and the millions of soles that are blown up on international trips. So it is a great hypocrisy,” explained the politician.
The space allowed us to learn first-hand about his approach to the main national challenges and the direction that, from his perspective, the country should follow in the coming years.
He questioned the political “paintings” on the walls of the towns, suggesting that they are financed with money from the State and not from the parties.
Its communication strategy is based on listening to people in all corners of Peru, instead of giving tax speeches.
“Beyond a communication strategy, what we have done in the last year and a half is listen to people. We have gone to all the big and small places in Peru and we have been there listening to what people are looking for, what people want,” he points out.
Consider that trains are a good mass outlet to reduce costs and travel times. Support the development of a train that links the entire Peruvian coast and trains that connect mining centers with ports, always without affecting the environment, especially the jungle.
