The Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched a contingency plan to repatriate 34 compatriots who were stranded in Bolivia due to road blockades in that country.
The Embassy of Peru remains in contact with the group of compatriots who still remain in La Paz, in order to coordinate their eventual transfer back to the country.
This Monday, 34 Peruvians returned to the country after being stranded in different parts of Bolivia due to protests caused by the elimination of the fuel subsidy.
The compatriots met in La Paz and from there they were transferred by land to Desaguadero. The group left the Bolivian capital at 11:30 am (Peruvian time) and arrived in Peruvian territory around 2:30 pm this Monday, January 12.
Initially, the Government had scheduled humanitarian flights; However, these could not be carried out due to problems landing in La Paz, so an alternative contingency plan was activated.
The Peruvians stranded in Bolivia returned to the country accompanied by a diplomatic official from the Peruvian Embassy in said country.
Already in Peruvian territory, the 34 compatriots were received by representatives of the Decentralized Directorate of Puno, who supervised that their transfer was carried out safely.
