The city of Rio de Janeiro recorded the highest temperature in the first days of January, with thermometers reading 41.4ºC in Santa Cruz, in the west zone, according to the Rio Alert System.
For Monday night (12), the forecast is clear to partly cloudy skies without rain. Winds will be predominantly moderate.
Between this Tuesday (13) and next Friday (16), the Rio Alert System informs that due to the presence of areas of instability, associated with the heat, the forecast for the city is partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers in the afternoon and evening. Winds will be moderate. For this Tuesday, the maximum temperature will be around 39ºC and in the following days until Friday, the maximum will be between 36°C and 37ºC.
The Health Intelligence Center of the State of RJ informs that there is a forecast of excess heat in seven of the 92 municipalities in Rio de Janeiro that entered the Orange – Severe level. The capital of Rio de Janeiro was included on the list, and continues on Tuesday, with an estimated Red – Extreme level in Guapimirim, in the metropolitan region.
To face the extreme heat, the Department of Health installed external hydration points in the 27 Emergency Care Units (UPA) for the vulnerable population. Samu 192 reinforced its service with motorcycles and rapid intervention vehicles at strategic points in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. Health units have adopted specific risk classification protocols and offer hydration salts for the elderly and children.
