He First Collegiate Court of Santo Domingo Este imposed a conviction of 20 years of prison to a man accused of raping a 16-year-old girl who was found drowned around Boca Chicain an event that occurred in the year 2024.
A statement from Public Ministry details that the conviction was imposed on Franklin Santana.
By decision of judges Elizabeth Esperanza Rodríguez Espinal, Flor E. Batista Polo and José Leonel Asencio Quezada, Santana must comply with the judgment at the Correction and Rehabilitation Center Najayo Men.
Investigation
The file prepared by the investigative prosecutor Odalis Beltrán indicates that the investigation of the Public Ministry It began on December 19, 2024, after the victim’s older sister, who had also suffered virtual harassment by Santana, reported what had happened.
The complainant revealed that that day her mother sent her an audio recording informing her that the victim had left the house at 4:00 in the afternoon with the intention of returning at 8:00 at night.
However, she did not return and remained missing for several days, until she was found dead, drowned in Boca Chica.
During the investigationa record-type pet was found in the deceased’s belongings, in which the victim accused the defendant of having touched her. A type memory was also found USB in which she had kept images of the events, stating that the convicted man threatened her so that she would not speak.
At the trial, the Public Ministryrepresented by trial prosecutors Evelyn Peña and Alexis Casado, presented before the court sufficient evidence that demonstrated the criminal responsibility of the person convicted today, for violation of Dominican Penal Code and Law 136-03, which establishes the Code for the Protection of the Fundamental Rights of Boys, Girls and Teenagers.
