The International Tourism Fair (Fitur), which will be held in Madrid this January, announced this Monday that it will host next Friday the 23rd the I International Summit of Communication and Tourismorganized in collaboration with the EFE Agency, within the framework of the forty-sixth edition of this international event.
The meeting will host professionals and leaders of the tourism sectorin which representatives of organizations of Dominican RepublicSpain, Brazil, Portugal and Mexico, among other countries.
During the day, among other topics, the opportunities that opens the tourist communication in a context of tension in certain destinations, as well as the news verification of the sector against misinformation.
Themes and exhibitions
The experts will participate in four round tables.
In the first of them, ‘Tourist communication in times of uncertainty: the value of the country brand’, the vice minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, Jacqueline Mora; the general director of the Institute of Tourism from Spain (TurEspaña), Miguel Sanz; and the president of the Brazilian Agency for International Promotion of Tourism (EMBRATUR), Marcelo Freixo.
under the qualification ‘Living off tourism or survive tourism.
The challenge of communicating in destinations with tourismphobia‘, the second table will have the president of the Board of Directors of Tourism from Portugal, Carlos Abade; the secretary of Tourism of the State of Chihuahua (Mexico), Felipe Edibray; and the managing director of the Balearic Islands Tourism Strategy Agency (AETIB), Pere Joan Planas.
The third space for debate, ‘Hoaxes and misinformation in it tourism‘will focus on the importance of information verification and in the fight against fake news that affect the perception of tourist destinations.
For this, it will have the experience in this area of the general director of Tourism of the City hall from Malaga (Spain), Jonathan Gómez; from the editorial manager in Spain of Lonely Planet magazine, Nuria Cabrero; and EFE Verifica journalist Jorge Ocaña.
Finally, ‘The future of the tourist communication‘ will delve into emerging trends through the testimony of the president of the State Mercantile Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies (SEGITTUR), Enrique Martinez; from the head of Public Affairs for Booking Spain and Portugal, Yasmina Laraudogoitia; and the president of DIRCOM, Miguel López-Quesada.
The general secretary of UN Tourism, Shaikha Al Nowais will close this I International Summit of Communication and Tourismwith an intervention in which he will offer a global vision on policies and strategies that help strengthen tourist communication.
