This Saturday, the US Armed Forces carried out a second round of bombings in Syria against Islamic State (ISIS) targets in retaliation for the deaths of three Americans in December, according to the United States Central Command (Centcom).
The “large-scale” attacks, with the support of “allied forces,” occurred at 12:30 a.m. Eastern time in the United States and were directed against “multiple objectives” of the group, Centcom said in a statement where no victims or regions attacked were detailed, according to a report from EFE.
The attack occurred as part of ‘Operation Hawkeye Strike’, ordered by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, on December 19, when there was a first attack with dozens of targets against infrastructure and weapons depots of the terrorist group in Syria.
The operation was retaliation for the death of two American soldiers and an interpreter a week earlier, on December 13, in the town of Palmyra, in a jihadist attack.
The Spanish agency points out that since Trump arrived at the White House, in January 2025, the United States has carried out military actions in six countries: Yemen, Somalia, Iran, Nigeria, Syria and Venezuela.

Most of these actions have been selective bombings with planes or drones against targets that Washington considers strategic.
Combating jihadist terrorism and drug trafficking have been the Trump Administration’s main arguments for these attacks.
“The strikes today targeted ISIS throughout Syria as part of our ongoing commitment to root out Islamic terrorism against our fighters, prevent future attacks, and protect U.S. and partner forces in the region,” Centcom reported.
