Javier Guevera maintained that Williams Zapata He stated in his Affidavit of Resume (DJHV) that he received S/187,200 in 2024 as part of his work in the Congress of the Republic. The citizen described this figure as “ridiculous” compared to Williams’ colleagues, Adriana Tudela, Alejandro Cavero, Diana Gonzales and Karol Paredeswho recorded income between S/423,000 and S/426,000. Likewise, the reporter denounced the omission of information about the pensions received as part of Chavín de Huantar and Defensores de la Patria.
However, as part of his right to defense, the party’s legal representative assured that “it is necessary to expand and specify the information on income from assets and income,” because Williams receives different concepts from Congress, not provided for in the DJHV. Furthermore, he indicated that the critic’s reasoning does not have legal basis to support an impediment regulated by the electoral norm to run in the elections.
In this context, the JEE rejected the objection presented. However, the citizen has three calendar days to present the appeal before the Plenary Session of the National Elections Jury (JNE).
The reasons for the JEE to reject the strike against Avanza País
First of all, the JEE Lima Center 1 He highlighted that, in accordance with the Law of Political Organizations (LOP), an eventual submission of false information entails the imposition of a fine on the candidate, the amount of which will depend on the seriousness of the facts that can be proven. Regarding omission of information, it only leads to candidate exclusion when it comes to judicial rulings.
In this context, the JEE indicated that, of the defenses presented by the legal representative of Country Advancesthere is a “recognition” on the part of José Williams regarding the omission to record the amounts of certain remunerations that he receives from the public sector in his sworn statement corresponding to the year 2024.
However, the electoral body specified that the monthly bonuses to which the critic refers, such as that of defenders of the homeland, were received in 2025, while that of Chavín de Huántar, months later.
For this reason, says the JEE, for these elections the income for the year 2024 must be recorded. “To that extent, it did not consider recording them in the relevant items of its FUDJHV,” indicates the electoral body.
Along the same lines, the electoral body maintained that the request for exclusion against Williams does not constitute a cause for his withdrawal from the electoral race.
