Intense rains leave areas of the VRAEM isolated by landslides and overflows

Since Monday night, heavy rainfall has been recorded in different areas of the Apurímac, Ene and Mantaro River Valley (VRAEM), generating landslides, river overflows and landslides.

It is worth mentioning that this emergency has caused the isolation of several communities in this part of the country.

One of the main impacts occurs on the highway that connects Ayacucho with the VRAEM, where the landslides have completely blocked vehicular traffic.

The San Francisco–Quínua–Ayacucho road remains closed and transporters have been recommended not to enter the area while work continues to restore access.

In the Ayacucho region, the districts of Santa Rosa, San Francisco and Quínua are among those most affected by the rains. In Cusco, damage is reported in the Kimbiri district, where hurricane-force winds caused the destruction of roofs in several homes.
