US President Donald Trump said that the United States (USA) is ready to intervene in Iran, where popular demonstrations against the government are taking place.
“Iran is seeking freedom, perhaps like never before. The US is ready to help, he wrote on his own social network.
Trump stated this Friday (9) that his country could take action in Iran if the regime killed the protesters. At the moment, more than 50 people have died. Furthermore, Iranian authorities intensified repression against protests, according to international agencies.
Iran has been experiencing an internet blackout since yesterday (9), caused by local authorities. Phone calls also do not reach the country and flights have been cancelled.
The demonstrations began on December 28, initially against the rise in inflation, but have now moved into the political sphere and are now seeking the overthrow of the government.
Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, said the protests were being promoted by “vandals” acting in the name of Donald Trump.
