This week, Rio’s security forces arrested five drug trafficking leaders from Comando Vermelho, who came to Rio to hide and command drug trafficking actions in their states of origin. They are from Goiás, Piauí, Mato Grosso, Bahia and Alagoas. Criminals are accused of crimes such as homicides, weapons and drug trafficking, rape, robberies, among others. The arrests took place in intelligence actions between Monday (5) and this Friday (9).
This Friday, the Military Police arrested Cássio Dumont, known as “Cascão”, located in Morro dos Prazeres, in Santa Teresa, central region of Rio. The criminal is identified as one of the leaders of organized crime in the state of Goiás. The action included the participation of the Special Operations Battalion (Bope) and the corporation’s Undersecretariat of Intelligence. According to information provided by security agencies in Goiás, Cascão has convictions for homicide and participated in the escape from the Trindade Penitentiary, in the metropolitan region of Goiânia.
In São Gonçalo, civil police officers from the 29th police station (Madureira) arrested, on Thursday (8), one of the leaders of drug trafficking in Bahia, linked to the “Bonde do Maluco” group. Three arrest warrants were served against him for murder.
The previous day (7), the Military Police (PM) arrested the most wanted criminal in Mato Grosso. Rafael Amorim de Brito was hiding in Itaboraí, in the metropolitan region of Rio. According to investigations, “Rafão” has convictions for rape, drug trafficking and robbery, in addition to four outstanding arrest warrants issued by the Mato Grosso courts. He is also accused of being responsible for the murder of police officers, including the PM sergeant, Odenil, in December 2024.
On Monday (5), military police from the 6th BPM (Tijuca) arrested a criminal accused of participating in 19 homicides in the state of Piauí. “Gordinho” is accused of being part of the so-called “Bonde dos 40”, a faction whose name refers to the popular tale of Arabic origin Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.
Also on Monday, civil police officers from the 59th police station (Duque de Caxias) arrested the leader of drug trafficking from Campo Alegre, in Alagoas. He was captured in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense, after intelligence work and exchange of information with the Alagoas Civil Police. Two preventive arrest warrants were served against him for the crimes of attempted qualified murder.
