Avoid throwing away your poinsettias and pine trees: guide to environmental collection centers in Mexico City

The season concluded december holidays And with that, plans begin to remove the decorations from the house or business, including the natural Christmas tree and the poinsettias you acquired, but do you know the correct way to dispose of them?

Given this situation, the Secretary of the Environment (Sedema) of Mexico City invites citizens to take their poinsettias and natural Christmas trees to collection centers that they have set up in different parts of the capital.

Why is it an important program?

With this they seek to promote proper waste management organics and thus prevent them from ending up in the trash or on public roads, so during the months of January and February you can go to the different collection centers.

The plants that are collected will be used for processes such as the production of compost and plant cover, which allows organic matter to be reincorporated into environmental restoration processes, thereby strengthening the circular economy and caring for the environment.

Take into account that poinsettias and trees must be deliver free of the following:

  • Plastics.
  • Cables.
  • Nails.
  • Papers.
  • Other waste.

Not all collection centers receive poinsettias and Christmas trees, so check which one is closest to you to deliver specifically what you need:

Centers where they receive pine trees and poinsettias:

  • From January 6 to February 15.
  • From Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Barter Market (Access 1)

  • Duration: January 11.
  • Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Xochimilco Ecological Park, Caseta 1

  • Duration: all of January.
  • Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Centers where they only receive Christmas Eve:

Tezozómoc Park, Azcapotzalco mayor’s office

  • Location: Barter Market.
  • Duration: February 8.
  • Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Environmental Culture Center (CCA) Yautlica

  • Address: Av. de las Torres s/n, Iztapalapa.
  • Duration: all of January.
  • Hours: from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Environmental Conservation Center (CCA) Acuexcomatl

  • Address: Av. Año de Juárez 1900, Xochimilco.
  • Duration: all of January.
  • Hours: from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Environmental Culture Center (CCA) Ecoguardas

  • Address: Carretera Picacho Ajusco km 5.5, Tlalpan.
  • Duration: all of January.
  • Hours: from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
