Santo Domingo.– The anti-narcotics authorities of the Dominican Republic seized 863 packages of cocaine during a joint operation carried out on the coast of the province of Pedernales, after an air, sea and land chase that lasted more than 15 hours.

The National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) reported that the action was carried out with the support of the Navy, the Air Force and State intelligence agencies, under the coordination of the Public Ministry, after receiving information that warned about the movement of a suspicious vessel.
The boat, without a name or registration, was intercepted several nautical miles south of Cabo Rojo, with two Dominican citizens on board.

Drugs and evidence busy
On the boat, 26 bags containing 863 packages of cocaine were seized, wrapped in adhesive tape and marked with different logos, the total weight of which is still pending determination.
Additionally, authorities seized:
- a satellite radio
- Three GPS devices
- Two mobile phones
- Water, food, tarps and clothing
Ongoing investigation
The DNCD indicated that the Public Ministry is keeping investigations open to determine if there are others involved in the operation.
The institution described the seizure as “the first major blow of the year 2026 against criminal structures,” highlighting that it is the result of cooperation between national and international organizations in the fight against drug trafficking.

The DNCD recalled that during the year 2025 the Dominican Republic seized 48.3 tons of drugs, consolidating itself as one of the leading countries in the Caribbean in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime.
