Congressman Carlos Anderson confirmed yesterday afternoon what he had already been insinuating for a few days: his resignation from the bench of Podemos Peru.
The legislator reported since last Friday that upon learning that his colleague, the parliamentarian and member of the Board of Directors, Enrique Wong Pujada, maintained rapprochements (constant visits) with the Government Palace and the MTC, he was going to ask for explanations and that, if he did not receive them, he would leave the bench. “I asked for explanations and they did not give them to me. So I had no choice but to present my resignation to the caucus, ”he told Perú21TV.

And he added: “Mr. Wong had rapprochements with the government and I am against the use of public office to access power as if it were a bargaining chip, because these things are not given for free.” The comment was because Wong’s adviser had been hired at the MTC
what they lose
This newspaper spoke with the former senior official of Congress, José Cevasco, about the situation that Podemos Peru could face before the departure of Anderson, since the group is left with four members and at least five are needed to be a bench. He indicated that, for the moment, the only benefit he would lose would be administrative: advisers, office and staff. About losing commissions and presidencies (currently presiding over Consumer Protection), he indicated that the Plenary, by approving its formation, is the only body that could take them away. “In other years they have been maintained, if not every time this happens, the entire commission table would have to be changed,” he explained.
But he assured that if in August Podemos has not been able to recover “its group status” it did undergo changes. They could not be considered for the Board of Directors or to preside over any commission, this because a new legislature begins that month and the panorama changes there.
knew what
- If the minimum number of legislators required to be a bench (5) is not recovered, Enrique Wong could leave the Board of Directors, if so decided by the Plenary or the Board of Spokespersons.
- Anderson said he would become part of the “ungrouped” lawmakers.
