The company of cruises Royal Caribbean began the construction of one new terminal in it Port of Miami which will have the capacity to house up to 7,000 passengers and will require an estimated investment of 345 million dollars.
“This world-class facility will enhance the urban landscape of the county of Miami-Dade and will mark another milestone in the evolution of PortMiami,” said the mayor of county of Miami-Dade, Daniella Levine Cavaduring a ceremony to place the first stone of the works.
The construction of the new terminal is scheduled to finish at the end of 2027 and will support large cruises like the ‘Icon’ class ships.
It will also include a multi-level parking lot and a intermodal facilitywith a single berth.
Project financing
“The cruise terminal G represents an important investment in the future of Miami. Built with advanced technology and sustainable designthis new facility will offer a smarter, faster and more seamless experience for guests,” said the company’s president and CEO, Jason Libertyin the ceremony.
- The financing for the project comes from a collaboration between the county and Royal Caribbeanaccording to a company statement.
He Port of Miami is recognized as the world capital of the cruises and the gateway to the Americas, making it one of the main engines for the economy of the countycontributing 61,000 million annually to the local economy and generating more than 340,000 jobs, according to port data.
