As part of the reorganization of Petroperuapproved by emergency decree (DU) 010-2025, one of the big questions that has arisen is what will happen to the state workers and whether there will be layoffs.
Through a letter sent by the general manager in charge of the company, Rita López, to the general mayor of Conduct Supervision of the Securities Market Superintendence (SMV), Alix Godos, reference is made to this point.
Based on information provided by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Denisse Miralles, the representative of Petroperú points out that the DU “does not impose or set a certain number of retirements or dismissals of personnel, but rather enables an urgent evaluation of the appropriate size of the company.”
This, as he noted, is within the framework of the reorganization process aimed at “operational efficiency, expenditure management and institutional sustainability, with full respect for current labor rights.”
Likewise, he stated that all the complementary provisions of the DU are aimed at negotiating with creditors, maintaining operations, reducing expenses, taking measures regarding the person that will adjust to the plan, among others.
THEY INSIST ON REPEALING THE REORGANIZATION OF PETROPERU
Meanwhile, in Congress the left is still determined to repeal the DU that proposes some changes in Petroperú as a result of the financial crisis in which the oil company finds itself, with debts to suppliers, negative results and complaints from the workers.
For this reason, there are already six legislative proposals that propose the disappearance of this emergency decree. Like the previous ones, these two new initiatives, one from Peru Libre and the other from the Democratic and Popular Bloc, only propose repeal, without a solution to the problem.
