Operation in the ANP Palmira: 33 of the 400 barges entered

The last unloading was “eight barges and four tugboats, which arrived on the AAL Hamburg ship on December 26, Palmira port captain Nicolás Suárez told EL ECO.

The comprehensive plan “provides for the incorporation of 400 barges and 15 tugboats, to operate along the Paraná-Paraguay Waterway.”

“The mineral will be moved through two terminals on the Uruguay River, Terminal Navíos, which will handle about 4 million tons, and Punta del Arenal (Soriano), with an estimated volume of 2.7 million tons. In the medium term, the projection of the Brazilian company aims to achieve, by 2029, an annual movement of 25 million tons of iron ore,” according to national authorities of the ANP.

The president of the National Ports Administration (ANP), engineer Pablo Genta, for his part stated that “this project is a priority of our administration and demonstrates the enormous potential of Palmira as a link between regional river transport and ocean destinations.”
