Will they guarantee circulation?: “I ask you to consider freeing the steps”, says minister

Hoy Paraguay

The strategy of the Minister of the Interior, Federico González, to restore the right to free transit, is to ask the demonstrators to free the passage. “I am a diplomat”, he argues before the tepidity of his answer.

“We are open to dialogue, on Sunday we were waiting for them sitting in Petropar, but they did not come,” Interior Minister Federico González told 780 AM, in relation to the mobilizations of the truck drivers, against the rise in the price of fuel.

Asked about the possibility of ordering the clearing of the routes, González indicated that he is in permanent dialogue with the National Police Command, but did not speak of a provision to guarantee free transit.

He indicated that the Police can do a lot, but only with the accompaniment of the Public Ministry. Regarding a possible term to resume circulation, González indicated that “I am a diplomat, but the use of force is constitutional.”

On this point, he was asked if a route closure is not a punishable act and he answered yes, but that other components must also be evaluated.

“I ask them to consider, take into account this situation and release the steps” said the minister.

The reality is that several points in the country remain blocked, among them, the Luque San Bernardino route, Km 42 at the height of Itá, intersection 6,000 of Santaní, are sections blocked by truckers.
