Saint Dominic.- The Chamber of Deputies approved this Wednesday, in second discussion and with modifications, the organic bill which creates the National Intelligence Directorate (DNI) and regulates the National Intelligence System.
The initiative, submitted by the president of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santosestablishes the legal framework of the State intelligence system, in accordance with article 261 of the Constitution, and defines the ID as the governing body of the system.
Due to the changes introduced, the project It must return to the Senate for approval of the approved modifications.
The legislative piece was studied by the Permanent Commission of Defense, chaired by the deputy Ramón Bueno Patiño, who highlighted that the text was agreed upon after listening to different sectors, strengthening guarantees such as the protection of rights fundamentals, freedom of expression and the exercise of journalism.
For his part, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco, He pointed out that the country requires modern legislation that clearly and transparently regulates aspects related to national security.
